Cúil Dáibhí

Cúil Dáibhí is situated on the Tuam Road, just past the schools and train station and within 5 minutes walk of the town centre.

Athenry has fast become one of the most popular towns in Co. Galway to live. Situated only 15 miles east of Galway city, on the main Galway to Dublin train line, it has become the ideal location for commuters both to Galway and Dublin. It is only 2 hours to Dublin by train and 45mins if you fly from Galway airport which is only 10 miles away! It is the ideal location for families upgrading their homes and moving from Galway city.

While it is a town offering all the modern facilities and amenities it is also a town steeped in the history of the county. Today, Athenry contains some of the finest remaining town walling in Ireland including five towers and a town entrance known as North Gate. The castle, surrounded by its own curtain wall and towers, has been renovated by the Office of Public Works and is annually the scene of a mediaeval-type festival. There is also an Arts & Heritage Centre.

Nearby, stand the ruins of the Dominican Priory, which contains many interesting grave slabs and tombs and if not unique in Ireland, is the 15th century "Lantern" type market cross in the town square.
